Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2025 (LIMA'25) Volunteer Experience

Attending the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25) as a volunteer was a completely new and meaningful experience for me, which is why I felt it deserved to be documented. Having attended previous editions such as LIMA’13, LIMA’15, LIMA’17, LIMA’19, and LIMA’23 as a visitor, being part of LIMA’25 from behind the scenes made this edition even more memorable.

Back in May 2024, Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF) officially announced the dates for LIMA’25. From that moment onward, I began searching for opportunities to join the event as a volunteer. Unlike previous editions, where volunteer applications were openly advertised through the organiser’s official channels, the process for LIMA’25 was slightly different.

In August 2024, I decided to take the initiative and emailed the organising committee to express my interest in volunteering. About two months later, I received a reply requesting my resume. A few weeks after that, I was invited to attend an interview session. The interview process was simple and conducted physically in a group of three candidates.

As the months went by, January 2025 finally arrived, and I was invited to attend the official volunteer briefing for LIMA’25 at Wisma Pewira, Kuala Lumpur. It was exciting to finally be part of something I had admired for years as a visitor.

For LIMA’25, I was assigned as the Delegate Officer (DO) for the Philippine National Police. The responsibilities of a DO included arranging meetings between delegates and exhibitors, handling enquiries from delegates, and assisting them throughout the exhibition. Sometimes, the questions were professional, while other times they were as simple as recommending interesting places around Langkawi. In many ways, the DO acts as the bridge between exhibitors and delegates. I truly felt fortunate to have been assigned to work with the Philippine National Police delegation.

These were the itinerary.

On midnight of 17 May 2025, our journey officially began as the volunteer bus departed from Wisma Zetro, Wangsa Maju, heading towards Jeti Kuala Perlis and to Lavigo Hotel, Langkawi. That marked the beginning of one of the most unforgettable experiences of my university life. LIMA’25 gave me the opportunity to meet incredible people, create unforgettable memories, and close the final chapter of my journey as an aerospace engineering undergraduate from Universiti Sains Malaysia in the best possible way.

Boarding the Bus to Jetti Kuala Perlis

Arrived at Jetti Kuala Perlis.
This picture specfically because my final year project was related to this wind turbine.

Shihab and Weli, who were my bus mates from UniKL.
I had a great time with them.

Checked in LaVigo, had dinner, and off to Mahsuri International Exhibition Center, where we had our role assignment and some briefings

That's it for now, I will keep updating this blog with more picture and experience soon.
